Jody Lee Salokar

Jody Lee Salokar was born in Spokane, WA on August 17, 1974. Known as Joe to everyone, he had a big smile and an even bigger heart.  He worked in the insurance and financial industries for many years in Oregon, Washington, and Arizona. He died on July 2, 2021, in  Surprise, AZ after living courageously with muscular dystrophy throughout his life.  Whether he was watching football, playing pool, or video games, his competitive instinct was always balanced by his fun-loving nature. One favorite thing to do was to watch his son Josh play hockey or watch his daughters Katelynn and Lindsey play volleyball.  He was incredibly supportive and encouraging of their dreams and goals. It was a top priority for him to make sure his family was always taken care of, including his canine shadow who followed him everywhere, his Weimaraner Bella. Joe was so open about his love for supercross and the UFC that he created his own custom-painted wheelchairs with these designs. He was a cook who rarely used a recipe, yet had an incredible ability to create the best-tasting meal and he could season and grill meat like no one else. Sunday family dinners will never be the same. Those who knew him will always remember his fascination with sharks and lights of all kinds, especially if they were blue.  Joe was a hard worker and made it a priority to be as self-reliant as possible.  Yet, he was always one to look out for others and offer help.  Whether it was buying a meal for someone on a street corner, or donating to the church or local food bank, his love for others was great. No matter if he was giving advice or speaking from the heart, it was his first priority to be honest. He was passionate about his family and he loved and trusted God wholeheartedly. He will be incredibly missed by so many on earth, yet he can now walk again with the Lord.

Joe is survived by his wife, Nicole (Rouse) Salokar, daughters Katelynn Salokar and Lindsey Salokar, son Joshua Ingram-Rehm and granddaughter Brynlee Ingram-Rehm. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Annie and Brad Hansen, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his brothers Joshua Salokar and Gabriel Salokar, his father Robert Salokar, and his grandparents.

A memorial service for the family will be held at a future date. Remembrances in his memory may be sent to the Muscular Dystrophy Association www.mda.org.
