Cynthia Minter

Mrs. Cynthia Davidson Minter, 82 of Surprise, Arizona passed away January 14, 2024, in Surprise, Arizona. She was born March 31, 1941, to John Davidson and Grace Cora Althen in Buffalo, New York. She attended St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo, New York. In 1966, Cynthia met her future husband, John. The start of their relationship was unique as they met through Cynthia’s then roommate. She was hesitant to accept John’s offer of a date at first but after receiving her roommates’ blessing and encouragement she agreed. From there a whirlwind romance occurred. The pair dated for three months before Cynthia proposed to John and then after another three months of engagement they were wed in Buffalo, New York, beginning a 57-year-long marriage full of love and laughter. From their marriage came their two beautiful daughters, Grace, and Bonnie. Cynthia loved being a mother and took great pride in taking care of her family. She was an amazing listener and always helped her daughters find the bright side of life. She was always an optimist who didn’t let any negativity come her way. John and Cynthia had greatly looked forward to their retirement together. During their retirement, they made it a priority to travel and see the world together. Cynthia also spent her retirement enjoying a litany of hobbies ranging from needlework, sewing, scrapbooking, and bocce ball. She always had a book of crossword puzzles on her as well. If she had any downtime, you just knew you could find her focused on her latest crossword puzzle. Cynthia was also a proud member of the Phoenix Association of the Deaf, The Phoenix Deaf Community Center, The Grand, and her Putt Putt Club. She was a social butterfly who could make friends anywhere she went, and she adored being around others. Her big heart and exuberance drew others to her, and it was impossible not to love her. She is survived by her daughters, Grace Minter (Carley Carbin) and Bonnie Biser (Ryan Biser); her sister, Deborah Ann Jonston; brother, John Paul Davidson Sr. and her Grandchildren: Johanna Grace Laughrey, Alanna Clara Laughrey, Esther Hassler Biser, and Levi Bunker Biser. She is also survived by more friends and family members than could possibly be named. She is preceded in death by her loving husband John Hassler Minter sister, Cheryl Lynn Stutzman, and her parents John and Grace Davidson.
