Linda Carol Wick

Our beloved mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Linda Wick, entered into the fullness of the presence of God on April 6, 2025, in Peoria, Arizona. She was 73 years old. Linda was born on October 31, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Fred and Melba Absher Jr. She grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri, in a home full of love, deep-rooted faith, and a strong work ethic. She relished being the big sister—playing, joking, and having an all-around good time with her brother and their cousins. From early on, she was loyal, steady, and deeply dedicated to her people—traits that would define her throughout her life. She was a proud graduate of Webster Groves High School, class of 1969, where she played field hockey and powder puff football—making her mark in sports long before women's athletics gained the recognition it has today. She could throw a softball like nobody else and treasured her 1967 Camaro, which she kept spotless and fiercely protected from her younger brother. Linda went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 1973 and made the brave move west to California in June 1973. She remained a lifelong and loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan, cheering them on from wherever life took her. Linda's career spanned both ministry and corporate life. While her daughters were young, she served faithfully as a part-time church administrator, balancing her work and family with grace. As they grew, she continued her professional journey as an administrative manager for SAIC and Leidos. Her colleagues knew her as dependable, trustworthy, hard-working, and someone you could always count on. But Linda’s greatest joy and proudest legacy was her family. She raised her two daughters, Karen and Leslie, with strength, wisdom, and deep faith. She poured herself into their lives being the kind of mom who showed up, cheered loudest, prayed fervently and loved fiercest. Her love only deepened with the arrival of her four grandchildren. Whether in the stands at soccer, hockey, volleyball, or baseball games, she was always their biggest fan—beaming with pride and offering unwavering encouragement. She had a special way of making each of them feel known, supported, and unconditionally loved. She had a quiet spirit and an inner strength that radiated peace. Linda’s settled confidence and deep faith created a quiet joy that ran through everything she did. She walked through life with calm, with grace, and with a deep trust in the goodness of God—no matter what life brought her way. After moving to Arizona in 2017, Linda found a new community of faith and friendship through her Lifepoint Bible study and the churches she attended in the Phoenix area. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Through every high and low—including two courageous battles with cancer—she leaned on Jesus, trusting in His strength, nearness and provision. Linda will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her fierce loyalty and her steady presence. She was a woman of strength, rooted in Christ, who lived a life of quiet purpose and deep love. She supported everyone around her, worked hard, and never wavered in her devotion to the people she loved. Linda is survived by her daughters Karen (Paul) McLean of Santa Barbara, CA and Leslie (Jeremy) Hui of Vancouver, BC; her four grandchildren Cade McLean, Spencer McLean, Molly Hui and Sawyer Hui; She is also survived by her brother Alan (Linda) of Lake St. Louis, MO; her beloved cousins, nephews and niece, and many dear friends who became like family. Her life was a gift, and her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Grand Community Church in Surprise, Arizona.
