Richard Eisenhauer

Richard Eisenhauer passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2020 at his home in Surprise Arizona surrounded by his family and love from abroad.   Richard shouldered a noble battle with cancer and chose to keep that battle private.    Richard was born December 17th, 1953 in Newcastle, Wyoming to Delbert and Jean Eisenhauer of Upton. Richard was the middle child in a family of six boys.

Growing up Richard was very active and loved wrestling, playing football, and enjoyed cruising the streets of Upton. In 1971 Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War then he later stationed in Subic Bay in the Philippines. After his time in the service, he returned to the United States where he traveled the country visiting and working in Wendover, Alaska, Ely, Mesquite, Indian Springs, Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma, and Utah. Richard owned and operated a successful asphalt business in Murry Utah before ultimately settling in McGill Nevada where he worked for Kinross Gold for the past decade.

Richard was a loving father, brother, son, and grandpa. He cared deeply for all of those around him and was not afraid to show his compassion and love. He cherished spending time with his daughter Tiffany and loved to shop for her, buying the cutest outfits he could find and surprising her with them anytime he came home from a trip. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and would frequently take his family out camping, fishing, and enjoying nature walks. He was a strict and protective father who made sure his daughter Tiffany had the right influences in her youth and instilled a sense of tenacity and hard-headedness in her. His strict parenting did not mean he wasn’t a “fun father” because he most certainly made sure to bring smiles across many children’s faces rather, they be in relation to him or complete strangers. He would routinely buy flashing superballs in bulk so he could surprise the neighborhood kids with them. He received the utmost enjoyment by making a child’s day more fun and adventurous. Richard was a very proud grandpa and loved spending time with his grandchildren.   Richard loved his many Dachshunds.   Richard was an avid fisherman, marksman, handyman, and outdoorsman. If something needed to be fixed, he took care of it himself. Richard enjoyed all music, especially “good country” music, and he always had the best playlists. His friends at “Racks” Bar in Ely Nevada always enjoyed his jukebox selections the most. He also had a love for cars and at one time bought so many cars his family would tease him for “having his own car lot”. He took pride in fixing cars before they became computerized. He certainly did not depend on mechanics to do maintenance work on his vehicles; he took care of it himself! He was a remarkable man who made a positive impression on this world and will be deeply missed by many.

Richard is preceded in death by his brother John and father Delbert.   He is survived by his mother Jean Eisenhauer, siblings Donn, Bob and Donna, Paul and Quelin and Mark, and children Tiffany, Erica, and Delbert. At his request, a celebration of life will is held in late spring.
