Dwight Emery

Dwight Emery of Goodyear, AZ passed away January 25, 2019 in Surprise, AZ. He was born June 2, 1942 in Duluth, Minnesota.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Simply Cremation.

Chloe Sanchez

Chloe Sanchez, 19 of Phoenix, AZ passed away January 25, 2019. She was born August 18, 1999 in Columbia, Missouri.

Chloe will be remembered as a vibrant, happy, young girl with a ton of energy. She was very athletic and a talented gymnast. She also had a passion for horses – belt buckle barrel racing in particular. Most of all she was a wonderful mom to her son Mateo, always laughing and playing with him.

Chloe is survived by her son Mateo Martinez-Sanchez, mother Samantha Mitchem-Sanchez, sister Willow Sanchez, grandparents Tommy Sanchez and Cindy Foree-Gentry, and uncles Adan Mitchem-Sanchez and Michael Mueller.

Linda Keilman

Linda Lee Keilman passed away peacefully in her home on January 27, 2019. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Linda was born on August 23, 1947 in Des Moines, IA. Later that year she moved to San Diego, CA with her family. One of six children, Linda graduated from El Cajon Valley High School in 1965 and eight years later married the love of her life, Jack in 1973. Jack and Linda were married 46 wonderful years and raised two loving children together, April and Keith. She recently became a proud grandmother to her first grandchild, Kinsley.

Volunteer work played an important role in Linda’s life- she spent countless hours working to improve the lives of others. She was involved in The Polinski Center and worked as a counselor for the Rape Crisis Center. She served four years on the Children’s Hospital Auxiliary Board and was named Auxiliary President in 2005. A one year position, she raised over $5M during her tenure. Linda loved to travel. Some of her favorite destinations included Ireland, New England states and the coastlines of California and Oregon. She also loved to socialize with her friends through luncheons, bunco groups and her “birthday club” to keep up with the lives of her friends and their families.

Linda was an exceptional, strong woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Warren, husband John (Jack) Keilman, daughter April Keilman, son Keith Keilman along with his wife Nicole, granddaughter Kinsley, sister Janice Burns, brothers Larry and Merle Warren, and eight nieces and seven nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Jene Warren, brother Don Warren and sister Sharon Parker.

A celebration of life will be held at Singing Hills Golf Club on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks to make donations in Linda’s name to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

Wiley Greene

Wiley Green, age 86 of Surprise, AZ passed away January 30, 2019 in Sun City West, AZ.

He was born on November 3, 1932 to Edward and Jessie Greene in Oklahoma City, OK.

Wiley served in the National Guard ranking as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was especially proud to be a fighter pilot instructor, private pilot instructor and a desert survival instructor.

Wiley is survived by his 3 daughters Marcy Rodgers, Kathy Richard and Tracy Ford, his son Timothy Greene, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Gwendolyn Eva Reynolds.

Juanita Morris

Juanita Morris of Peoria, AZ passed away January 24, 2019 in Surprise, AZ. She was born March 12, 1923 in Spokane, Washington. Juanita is survived by one son.

Mary Ballesteros

Mary Ballesteros of Phoenix, AZ passed away January 19, 2019 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born August 31, 1957 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary is survived by her daughter and 2 sons.

Shirley Jones

Shirley Jones passed peacefully on January 23, 2019 in Surprise, Arizona. She was 89 years old. She was born and raised in Montana where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Bill Jones, to whom she was married until his passing in 1994. Together Shirley and Bill raised five children, spending most of their life together in Tacoma, Washington and Bellevue, Washington. After Bill’s passing she relocated to Camano Island, Washington and established a part-time residence in Arizona, where she eventually became a fulltime resident in Surprise at the Happy Trails community.

She had many hobbies and passions over the years, including travel. Her adventures included trips to Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, the Holy Lands, and many other destinations. One of her more adventurous outings took her to the Arctic tundra to see polar bears in the wild. She also enjoyed outdoor activities, like hiking, cross-country skiing, and golfing. Shirley was a voracious reader and there was always a novel within arm’s reach. Mornings most often found her at the kitchen table with the local newspaper and a cup of coffee.

Shirley was a passionate music fan, especially of bluegrass music, and she loved playing her banjo. Most recently, she was part of a musical group at Happy Trails called Strings and Things. When still residing in Washington, she was active with the Old Time Fiddlers Association. For many years she attended the legendary Darrington Bluegrass Festival in Washington, as well as countless jam sessions and campouts with her fellow pickers.

A devout Christian, Shirley was always active in her church. For many years, she attended Church of the Resurrection in Bellevue, Washington where she served on the Altar Guild for 20 years. She also sang in the Happy Trails Christian Fellowship choir.

Shirley is survived by her children: Kathy Jones (Surprise, AZ), Coni Jones Corrothers (Burlington, WA), Kevin Jones (Bellevue, WA), and Kendall Jones (Seattle, WA). She was preceded in death by her daughter Carol Jones (Stanwood, WA). She is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her sister Dorothy Brees of Great Falls, Montana.

A memorial for Shirley will be held on Sunday, February 24th at 3:00 PM at Happy Trails Adult RV Park in the Performing Arts Center. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Simply Cremation & Funeral Arrangements.

Norman Booth of Surprise, AZ passed away January 17, 2019 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born February 22, 1964 in Burien, Washington.

Marian Pooley

Marian Pooley, age 74 of Phoenix, AZ passed away January 19, 2019 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born March 18, 1944 to Archer and Mae Law in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Marian was a beloved daughter, sister, loving wife and the most wonderful mom and Grammi. She was loving and kind and touched many lives along the way. She had a passion for helping others and was always happiest when she was surrounded by her family and close friends.

She is survived by her daughters Amy Wray, Rachael Pooley, and Leslie Gunnell; sons Robert Pooley, William Pooley and Randy Brannan; sisters Margaret Shick and Jane Main; brother Donald Law and sister-in-law Amy Pooley. Marian is further survived by her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren Samantha Sasfai, Gracelyn, Gunnell, Delanie Gunnell, Randy Joe Brannan, Brett Brannan, Revven Sasfai and Kase Sasfai.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Edward Pooley, her parents Archer and Mae Law, and her sister Sarah Jane Spencer.

The family suggests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Elizabeth Smith of Clare, Michigan passed away January 19, 2019 in Surprise, AZ. She was born September 30, 1960 in Niagara Falls, NY. She is survived by her husband and daughter.

David Wright passed away January 10th, 2019 in Goodyear, AZ. He was born December 2nd, 1950 and raised in North Bend, Oregon.

Stephaine Lyman-Crawford

Stephaine M. Lyman-Crawford, 23 of Phoenix, AZ passed away January 3, 2019 in Phoenix, AZ.
She was born July 26, 1995 to Steven Crawford and Rosalind Lyman in Phoenix, AZ.
Stephaine is survived by her parents Rosalind F. Lyman and Steven Crawford, her sons Kyree John Lyman-Osburn and Louis Luck Hughes, her sisters Angel and Crystal Lyman, brothers Kevin Hawkins, Jonathan Ware and Carl Dean Osburn and her nieces and nephews Seanna, Rosie, Daisy, Rosabella, Elijah, Felix, Cameron, Darnell, and Kavon.
 
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Green, Auntie Glendra Turk and brother Michael Antwone Vaughn.

Maudest Walker

Maudest Walker of Surprise, AZ passed away January 31, 2019 in Sun City West, AZ. She was born January 21, 1943 to K.P. and Alberta Thomas in Annemanie, Alabama.

Maudest was an outstanding community member with a passion for education. She graduated Annemanie High School as the salutatorian of her class in 1960 and earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in psychology from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. Maudest went on to work as a high school general education and social studies teacher for the Portland public school system in Oregon. She received her Master of Education in Manpower and Community College Counseling from Oregon State University in 1973, where she was inducted into the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. After graduation, Maudest worked as an administrator and professor in workforce training and community college counseling for Job Corps centers and the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory, the latter culminating in supervising and training graduate students as well as co-writing training manuals in a masters counseling program. She was a member of the Philomathean Charity Club, American Personnel and Guidance Association, Association for Counselor Education and Oregon Teachers Association.

Maudest will be remembered as a beautiful, sweet, down-to-earth people person with a warm smile, infectious laugh and unique sense of humor. Although married to a federal administrative law judge and accomplished in her own right, she was never afraid to celebrate other people. Maudest often showered a person with praise and encouragement, making them feel like the most important one in the room. Many also came to her for a listening ear, sound advice and good ol’-fashioned prayer. A strong woman of faith, Maudest accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. The Church affectionately referred to her as “Missionary Walker,” “Mother Walker” and “The Confirmer” in ministry. Maudest was an evangelist, prophetess, teacher, missionary, church mother, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. She also loved music. Maudest played the saxophone and piano. She occasionally played piano in church and sang in the choir. Moreover, Maudest sang and co-wrote songs with her daughter, coaching her at times. She was also an avid reader and one-time athlete during her field hockey days, but most knew her as an antique enthusiast turned entrepreneur who owned and operated stores with her husband and mall booths in Los Angeles, California for nearly 30 years, before retiring and settling into her dream home with her daughter in Surprise.

Maudest is survived by her daughters Maldest and Pepper Walker (Maltipoo), sisters Mildred Thomas and Elaine Phillips (John) and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mallory Walker, her parents K.P. and Alberta Thomas, two brothers Kossuth and Norbert Thomas, her sister Lucille Thomas-Austin and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Margarita Zamorano

Mrs. Margarita Zamorano of Overgaard, AZ died January 7th, 2019 in Goodyear, AZ. She was born July 23rd, 1940 to Julian Duarte and Lucia Lopez in San Bernardino, CA.

Nana/Margarita worked as a realtor for 15 years prior to moving to Overgaard, AZ in 1999 where she continued her career as a realtor until her retirement in 2017. But, if you ask her family they’ll tell you that in their opinion, her biggest, most influential and lasting accomplishment is the impact she had on her family and anyone who really knew her, they’ll tell you that she was a pillar of strength, unconditional love and always a lady.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Rene Zamorano, Sr., their daughters, Margaret Zamorano Coffman, Lillian Zamorano, Xochitl Zamorano, and sons Rene Zamorano, Jr., and Sergio Zamorano. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will be holding a funeral service at a date to be determined.

Sheila Fisher, of Wickenburg, AZ passed away January 8th, 2019. She was born December 18th, 1955 in Kansas City, Kansas to James Wyant and Elizabeth Fueston. She is survived by 4 children. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Simply Cremation & Funeral Arrangements.

Carolyn Espinosa

Carolyn Espinosa, of Buckeye, AZ passed away January 6th, 2019. She was born November 29th, 1936 in Long Beach, CA to Dolan Burris and Mary Brown. She is survived by her son and daughter. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Simply Cremation & Funeral Arrangements.

Anthony Longbein

Anthony Longbein, of Glendale, AZ passed away on January 6th, 2019. He was born July 6th, 1955 to Richard Longbein and Mabel Lemmer in Mendota, Illinois.  He is survived by his son Lance Longbein. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Simply Cremation & Funeral Arrangements.
