Donald “Donnie” Eugene Brown

Donald “Donnie” Eugene Brown, age 59 of Surprise, Arizona passed away June 4, 2021, in Surprise, Arizona. He was born December 16, 1961, to Donald Brown Sr. and Pearl Walters in Centralia, Illinois.

Donnie attended Centralia High School in Illinois and graduated in 1980. On September 16, 1984, Donnie married Patricia Downey. Donnie continued his education by attending Kaskaskia College, where he received an Associate’s Degree in 1994, and then attended Vanderbilt Medical University, where he completed the Radiation Therapy Program in 1995. Donnie worked as an MRI Technologist for Banner Health in Glendale, Arizona.

To celebrate their 30th Anniversary, Donnie and Patty went back to Hawaii and stayed at the same hotel as their honeymoon.   Donnie shared his love of hockey with his daughter Morgan, who he had given the nickname “Moe.” He and Morgan held season tickets for the Arizona Coyotes and had traveled to see the Chicago Blackhawks play. When Morgan participated in High School and Club Softball, Donnie and Patty would always attend the games and made it a family event. He was always the supportive dad. Donnie loved to host BBQs and entertain. He referred to their backyard as the “Brown’s Backyard Bitchin’ Kitchen.” He was known as the “BBQ Master” and often bragged that he made the best pulled pork.

He is survived by his wife, Patty, and his daughter Morgan of Surprise, Arizona, a brother Jerry Brown and wife Carla of Walnut Hill, Illinois, his mother-in-law Doris Downey of Ashley, Illinois, his brother-in-law Bob Downey and wife Tracie of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, his nieces Angie Brown, Ashley Sears and Emma Sears and his nephews Derek Sears, Andrew Brown, Dakota Korzenewski, Ledger Cullins-Sears, Rob Downey and Thomas Downey.

He is preceded in death by his father Donald Brown Sr., his mother Pearl Brown, his sister Paula Sears, and his nephew Shawn Brown.

The family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

  2. I am shocked a s saddened to hear of Donnie’s passing. What a kind man he was that would do anything for anyone. We were privileged to know him through Paula. When you meet families like this, you can’t help but be forever changed to a better person. Our condolences to Patty & the whole family.

  6. Don, from the first day I met you, you were always warm and friendly. Through the years our relationship/friendship grew and it was very dear to me. You were amazing at everything you did, from barbecuing, to popcorn making, to body scrub, to margaritas. You always took care of me and brought me goodies when I cut your hair. I always looked forward to seeing you not only for the goodies but our deep conversations. I will miss you very much. ❤️❤️❤️

    I am so sorry to hear about Donnie. I worked with him years ago on the Mobile MRI at St Mary’s. He was always so sweet and we always had fun at work. I have thought of him often over the years. I know you will miss him forever. Becky
