Gerald “Jerry” Lee Janssen

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Janssen 80, of Peoria, Arizona passed away on June 20, 2018, bravely facing a devastating and fast moving illness that he faced with dignity and courage.

Jerry passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Pat at his bedside.

He was born November 4, 1937 in Story City, Iowa to Ted and Donna Janssen.

Jerry spent his Sales career in the trucking industry, working for Consolidated Freightways and NW Transport. After retiring, he started his own home-based business brokering truck loads and matching with eighteen wheelers. Jerry worked from home another ten years before officially retiring at the age of 75.

Upon retirement, Jerry and Pat bought a Corvette convertible and joined both Sun Country Corvette and Fast Glass Corvette clubs. Through both clubs, Jerry and Pat were blessed with treasured friendships and dear memories where “Fun Hits the Road!” Jerry and Pat’s almost 50 years of marriage (February 2019) also brought them cherished friendships and memories through raising their 2 sons. Jerry, Pat and their 2 sons were 20 year residents of Hidden Manor and Jerry and Pat have resided in Westbrook Village for the past 25 years.

Jerry will forever be cherished and remembered by his beloved wife, Pat, sons Jeffrey and Kevin, daughters-in-law Catherine and Rachel, and grandchildren Jeffrey Todd (J.T.), Ava, and Adeline. He is also survived by brothers Lyle of Prescott, Arizona and Dale of Camp Verde, Arizona, as well as two nieces and two nephews and will forever be remembered by extended family members and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at 4:30p.m., at Arrowhead Country Club located at 19888 N 73rd Avenue in Glendale, Arizona. Receiving will begin at 4p.m. and light refreshments will be served.

*In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Jerry to the Pink Heals Tour at http://www.pinkfiretrucks.org/ supporting individuals and families that are facing cancer by partnering with local public safety departments.

  3. Our love and prayers to all of the Janssen’s at this very sad time of letting go of Jerry. As a younger cousin, it is difficult. I remember the fun times as kids and Jerry’s laugh of course. He is and will always be greatly missed!

  4. So hard to express 40 plus years of friendship. We enjoyed many good times together and watched our kids grow up over the years. I shared a birthday with him as well. It was good to have “Jerry” in our lives. Happy he had his orange wheels to entertain him in recent years. He was very pleased about owning his rolling toy. It could not have had a better home. Good journey Jerry. I know you will keep your corner of the universe tidy.
