Gregory Alan Petersen

Gregory Alan Petersen, 62, of Surprise, Arizona died on April 9, 2024, in Surprise, Arizona

He was born on May 13, 1961, to Howard Petersen and Louise McCormick.

Greg is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joanne Shear. His daughter, Rebecca Anderson, and son-in-law, Tyler Anderson. Sisters, Debbie Smith and Susan Beaty. His mother, Louise McCormick. Two grandkids, James Anderson (6 years old) and Anna Anderson (3 years old.) He is survived by his beloved Aunt Jeanette and his cousin, Susan Gray as well as many other aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.

To his family and friends, Greg was our #1 guy! He was a man of integrity, loyalty, with a sarcastic sense of humor. He loved lighthouses, the beach, and going to San Diego. Greg also loved being a dog dad to his two rescues, Jake and Kona. By far his favorite role was “Grampy” to his grandkids.

No service is being held at this time. A Celebration of Life is in the works with a date to be determined.

We ask as a family that if you’d like to make a donation in Greg’s memory, he had two charities he was passionate about:

  • Mental Health
  • Animal Rescue

  2. Rest in Peace Greg! You were one of a kind.

  3. My condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.

  4. Joanne and family, grands…mom and sisters, Greg loved you so much! He was always a good son and brother but he was completed when he got his own family. He was absolutely all in, 100% family man. A hard working man with an incredible sense of responsibility, the ultimate employee, honest, loyal and as we say in the West, riding for the brand. Nothing about this loss makes sense except Cancer Sucks and no one is spared. Please hold tight to your memories and never doubt he loved you more than life…no doubt in my mind he continues to love you and watch over you in the after life. ❤ He’s an angel of the highest order, find a way to live happy and make sure those grands carry on his finest attributes, mainly loving you all!

  5. My prayers and thoughts are for you all right now. Anytime I was around Greg, he was happy and gave his full attention to the people he was with. He just made people feel safe, seen, and cared for. Boy did he love his family! We shared the same birthday, and true to Greg form he so many years would beat me in saying happy birthday. We are better for knowing him but dang it wasn’t long enough. Will miss him.

  6. My brother, my friend. We had grown so close the past few years. I’ll miss our talks, our walks in the desert and so much more. Love always, your little sister.
